Talking with former Buffalo Bills owner Mary Wilson about giving back

I use this blog primarily to write about my experiences as a children's book author as well as my school author visits. Today I am going to break with that to share a story I recently wrote for Buffalo Magazine. It is a profile of former Buffalo Bills owner Mary Wilson and it was one of my favorite magazine pieces I have done in a long time.

The story was important-- Mrs. Wilson is leading the efforts to give away $1.2 billion her husband earmarked as part of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. Money that is making a huge difference in the cities of Buffalo and Detroit.

With so much emphasis on greed, power, and nastiness permeating our culture these days, it was so refreshing to see a group of people dedicated to improving the lives of others and giving back to the communities they are part of.

Take a few moments and read Mrs. Wilson's story. If nothing else, it should give you pause to appreciate that in the midst of all of the chaos of our country, there are good people out there doing amazing things everyday. This is just one small story. I hope you enjoy it.
