School Visits

Matt’s favorite part of his job is getting to talk with students and share his passion for writing. Each year he visits with thousands of students at public, private, and charter schools across the country, engaging them with his high-energy, interactive author visits and writing workshops.

When you make one of Matt’s author visits part of your school year, you can expect:

A visit that is customized to the grade level(s) of your students (with a special presentation for grades K-1 featuring his fiction picture books)

A program that utilizes Common Core-based educational materials to create a visit that will complement your classroom teaching

An interactive author visit where your students will be active participants as they learn what it takes to brainstorm, research, and write non-fiction

A full day. Whether you want to schedule a breakfast with select students, a lunchtime round-table discussion or an after-school event, Matt is yours for the day and you are encouraged to make the most of your time together

"Matt Chandler exceeded all of our expectations of what an author visit would be like.  Not only did he tailor his presentations to each grade (K-6) but he also engaged the students in his presentations.  Matt created interactive presentations in which the students could ask questions and participate.  Thank you for sharing your struggles and triumphs along the way.  It showed our students that it takes time and persistence in order to be successful."

Six weeks prior to his visit to your school, Matt will send a personalized video message to share with your students to get them excited for the event.

Many schools show the video either in homeroom or during library time and use it as a springboard to talk about possible questions to ask during the visit.
